On behalf of ICoTA Canada, you are invited to attend our latest Technical Webinar.
Topic: Novel Application of Abrasive Jet Perforating to Restore Productivity of a High Potential Inactive Horizontal Oil Producer
Paper presented at the SPE/ICoTA Well Intervention Conference and Exhibition, March 2022
Paper Number: SPE-280988
Speaker: Steven Craig - Baker Hughes
Bio: Steven is currently one of the Global Product Line Managers for coiled tubing with Baker Hughes. Prior to his current role he has held many operational, engineering, training and development positions in multiple countries. Steven has 32 years coiled tubing experience all with Baker Hughes (or legacy companies BJ Services and NOWSCO Well Service). He holds and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Degree from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and is a registered Chartered Engineer with he Engineering Council in London. He has published over 30 SPE papers.
This presentation will focus on an extended reach well in the Middle East. During the completion phase part of the liner had backed off leaving an 11 m gap. The completion plan called for inflow control devices to be pressure activated after setting. With the gap to openhole there was insufficient pressure build available. The presentation will review the various access and perforating options considered by the operator prior to selecting abrasive perforating, the significant solids placement and removal modelling that was conducted to ensure the operation was feasible and the actual successful intervention results.
When: February 22nd 2023 - 8:30 AM Mountain Time (US and Canada)
